August brought with it a powerful series of eclipses, particularly affecting Pisces, Leo, Gemini, Sagittarius and Virgo placements. But for sensitive Pisces energy, this season can feel especially significant. After nearly three years of Saturn moving through Pisces and asking us to grow up spiritually, emotionally and energetically, many Pisces are standing on the other side of an extraordinary period of restructuring. Saturn is now retrograde in Aries, giving us an opportunity to review the foundations we are building as we integrate the profound lessons of the last several years.

There are seasons of life when growth feels beautiful.
And then there are seasons when growth feels like losing absolutely everything that once made you feel safe.
Eclipse energy has traditionally been associated in astrology with revelation, culmination, redirection and accelerated change. Something that has been quietly developing can suddenly become impossible to ignore. Relationships shift. Identities change. Careers evolve. Long-standing patterns become visible.
What initially appears to be disruption can eventually reveal itself as course correction.
For Pisces, this idea carries particular weight after Saturn's recent journey through our sign.
Saturn is not generally associated with instant gratification. Saturn represents discipline, responsibility, boundaries, maturity, structure and consequence. When Saturn moves through an area of the birth chart, it tends to ask a very simple question:

There is a version of success that photographs beautifully.
And then there is the version nobody photographs.
Starting over.
Losing.
Rebuilding.
Questioning yourself.
Having something and watching it disappear.
Learning that your identity cannot be attached exclusively to a bank balance, relationship, title, audience, body or accomplishment.
Building something once requires ambition.
Building it again after experiencing loss requires something entirely different.
It requires faith.

Our culture has an interesting relationship with romantic partnership.
We celebrate finding someone.
We celebrate engagements.
We celebrate weddings.
But there are other forms of devotion that deserve recognition too.
The devotion required to protect your peace.
The devotion required to remain alone rather than attach yourself to something misaligned.
The devotion required to know that companionship at the expense of yourself is far too expensive.

We live in a culture obsessed with youth while simultaneously overlooking one of the greatest privileges available to us:
Becoming older and wiser.
There is beauty in youth.
But there is another kind of beauty that comes from knowing yourself.
Knowing what you will tolerate.

Knowing when silence is more powerful.

Eventually healing asks another question:
What are you going to do with everything life taught you?
Pain can make us smaller.
But healed pain can also make us extraordinarily useful.
