Sometimes the Most Beautiful Smiles Are Earned
This photo isn't confidence.
It's survival.
The other day, I had professional photos taken because, honestly...
For the first time in a very long time...
I finally felt like myself again.
During the shoot, the photographer smiled, looked at me, and said,
"I think I'm going to use a brighter flash because your skin is so radiant."
I almost cried.
Not because of the compliment.
Because for thirteen years...
I believed the exact opposite.
For over a decade, a small group of people relentlessly bullied me, lied about me, questioned my integrity, and tried to convince me I wasn't worthy of the career, the magazine covers, the awards, or the life I had spent years building.
The hardest part wasn't what they said.
It was how long I allowed their voices to become louder than my own.
Maybe you've experienced something similar.
Maybe your critics weren't online.
Maybe they lived in your own home.
Maybe they were classmates.
A spouse.
A parent.
A boss.
Sometimes the deepest wounds don't come from strangers.
They come from people whose opinions we once valued.
If you've found this article because you're searching for how to heal self worth after trauma, how to recover after emotional abuse, or simply wondering whether you'll ever feel like yourself again...
I want you to know there is hope.
Not because life suddenly becomes easy.
But because healing changes the way you experience life.
God tells a very different story than the one fear tries to write.
And thankfully...
His story always wins.

Before You See the Woman... You Have to Meet the Little Girl
I lost my father in a tragic accident when I was only ten years old.
He was thirty six.
There are moments in life that quietly divide everything into "before" and "after."
That was one of mine.
Children don't always have the words to explain grief.
Sometimes they simply carry it.
Sometimes they grow up believing they have to become stronger than any child should ever have to be.
Looking back, I don't think I realized how much of my life became driven by trying to prove that I was okay.
Trying to succeed.
Trying to achieve.
Trying to earn love.
Trying to become enough.
Trauma has a way of convincing us that if we become perfect, perhaps we'll finally feel safe.
But perfection is an impossible destination.
Healing is not.
The Battles No One Could See
There were seasons when I didn't recognize the woman looking back at me.
At eighteen, I battled severe cystic acne and eventually went on Accutane.
My confidence disappeared almost overnight.
Not long afterward, I nearly lost my life to distorted eating.
Like so many women, I believed changing my body would somehow heal my heart.
Instead, God led me toward something far greater.
A plant based lifestyle.
Living foods.
Juicing.
Herbalism.
Natural healing.
Those practices didn't just restore my physical health.
They slowly began restoring my relationship with myself.
Years later, I would spend two difficult years battling eczema that scarred my arms and legs.
Then came surgeries.
Recovery.
Pain.
And moments where looking in the mirror felt incredibly difficult.
Healing wasn't linear.
It rarely is.
But every challenge taught me something I couldn't have learned any other way.
I stopped asking,
"Why is this happening to me?"
And started asking,
"What is God trying to grow within me?"
That single question transformed the direction of my healing journey.
The Year I Lost Almost Everything... and Found Myself
There are seasons that shape your character.
Then there are seasons that completely dismantle the person you thought you were.
I have lived through both.
In 2017, after the end of a relationship, I found myself staring at a bank account with just thirty dollars in it.
Thirty dollars.
It's strange how quickly life can humble you.
One day you're building dreams.
The next, you're wondering how you'll rebuild your life.
I could have allowed that season to convince me I had failed.
Instead, I chose to believe God wasn't taking something from me.
He was making room for something greater.
Within a month, I rebuilt my business to over twenty thousand dollars a month.
Not because I was extraordinary.
Because I refused to quit.
People often ask me what the secret to resilience is.
It isn't confidence.
It isn't talent.
It isn't luck.
It's deciding that your circumstances don't get to write the final chapter of your story.
That lesson would prepare me for challenges I couldn't even imagine were still ahead.

The Trauma No One Could See
For years, people saw the magazine covers.
The television appearances.
The speaking engagements.
The social media posts.
What they didn't see were the sleepless nights.
The panic.
The tears.
The prayers whispered on my kitchen floor when no one else was watching.
Trauma isn't always one catastrophic event.
Sometimes it's a thousand paper cuts.
Sometimes it's waking up every morning wondering what lie will be told about you next.
Sometimes it's living in a state of hypervigilance, where your nervous system forgets what peace feels like.
Science tells us that prolonged emotional stress can alter the way the brain and body respond to everyday life (learn more from the National Institute of Mental Health).
It can affect sleep.
Digestion.
Hormones.
Inflammation.
Memory.
Even self worth.
As someone who now teaches holistic healing and nervous system healing, I can tell you this with certainty.
You are not weak.
Your body has simply been trying to protect you.
The beautiful news is that it can also learn to feel safe again.
That realization changed everything for me.
Losing Louis Broke My Heart Open
Then came one of the hardest seasons of my life.
I was recovering from two major surgeries.
I was being dragged through court by someone I had never even met.
My body was exhausted.
My mind was exhausted.
And then...
I lost the most precious soul to ever enter my life.
Louis.
People sometimes underestimate the love we have for animals.
They aren't "just pets."
They become family.
They witness our private tears.
They love us without conditions.
They never ask us to earn their affection.
Losing him left a silence in my home that words cannot adequately describe.
For a long time, I believed grief was something to overcome.
Now I understand it's something we learn to carry with tenderness.
Love never really leaves us.
It simply changes form.
Even now, there are moments when I still expect to hear his footsteps.
There are days when I still catch myself smiling at a memory before the tears arrive.
Grief taught me something profound.
The depth of our sorrow is often a reflection of the depth of our love.
And I would never trade that love.

Why Self Worth Cannot Be Built on Other People's Opinions
One of the most dangerous things I ever did was hand strangers the authority to define my value.
If they complimented me...
I felt beautiful.
If they criticized me...
I questioned everything.
That isn't confidence.
It's captivity.
Healing began the moment I stopped asking the world who I was.
And started asking God.
When your identity comes from your Creator instead of public opinion, something remarkable happens.
Criticism becomes information instead of identity.
Rejection becomes redirection.
Failure becomes education.
Pain becomes transformation.
That doesn't mean difficult words no longer hurt.
It means they no longer have permission to define you.
Five Lessons That Helped Me Rebuild My Life
If you're wondering how to begin healing after emotional abuse, betrayal, or trauma, these five practices changed everything for me.
1. Stop arguing with people committed to misunderstanding you.
Peace is more valuable than being right.
Not every accusation deserves a response.
Sometimes silence protects your healing more than explanation ever could.
2. Build your life instead of defending it.
The greatest response to adversity isn't revenge.
It's becoming the person God created you to be.
Every healthy choice you make becomes another brick in the foundation of your future.
3. Care for your nervous system every single day.
Fresh air.
Prayer.
Movement.
Living foods.
Strength training.
Quality sleep.
Healthy boundaries.
These aren't luxuries.
They're daily investments in your healing.
4. Choose people who celebrate your light instead of competing with it.
One authentic friendship is worth more than a thousand shallow relationships.
The right people don't feel threatened by your growth. They encourage it.
5. Remember that healing is not linear.
Some mornings you'll feel unstoppable.
Other mornings you'll cry before breakfast.
Both can be part of healing.
Progress isn't perfection.
It's persistence.

The Birth of The Sovereign Method
There came a moment when I realized something profound.
Many people weren't struggling because they lacked discipline.
They were struggling because they had forgotten who they were.
They had spent years abandoning themselves to earn love.
Shrinking to make others comfortable.
Silencing their intuition.
Living according to someone else's expectations.
I knew that journey because I had lived it.
That realization became the inspiration behind The Sovereign Method.
It isn't simply a program.
It's an invitation to come home to yourself.
To reconnect with the wisdom God placed within you.
To stop outsourcing your worth.
To stop apologizing for your light.
To begin living from a place of truth instead of fear.
Because sovereignty isn't about controlling other people. It's about finally becoming the author of your own life.
Why Intuitive Life Coaching Is Different
Over the years, I discovered that people rarely came to me because they simply wanted better health.
They wanted clarity.
Peace.
Confidence.
Direction.
They wanted someone to help them remember what their soul had quietly known all along.
That's the heart behind my Intuitive Life Coaching.
Yes, we discuss wellness.
Yes, we explore habits and healing.
But we also uncover the beliefs, fears, relationships, and patterns that have been quietly influencing every decision.
Because lasting transformation doesn't happen when you change one behavior.
It happens when you change the story you've been telling yourself.
And sometimes...
One conversation can begin rewriting that story forever.

The Woman in This Photograph Didn't Win Because Life Became Easier
If you've made it this far, I want to tell you something that I wish someone had told me years ago.
Healing isn't the reward you receive after suffering ends.
Healing is the decision you make while you're still suffering.
Looking at this photograph today, I don't see perfect skin.
I don't see magazine covers.
I don't see awards.
I don't see someone who has it all figured out.
I see a little girl who lost her father far too soon.
I see a young woman who believed her value depended on how she looked.
I see someone who survived distorted eating.
I see scars from eczema.
I see surgeries.
Courtrooms.
Sleepless nights.
Financial uncertainty.
Heartbreak.
The unimaginable loss of Louis.
I see thousands of prayers that no one ever heard.
I see mornings when getting out of bed felt like the greatest victory of the day.
I see the woman God never stopped believing in, even during the seasons when she struggled to believe in herself.
That is why this photograph means so much to me.
Not because it's beautiful.
Because it represents survival.

What I Wish Every Person Who Feels Broken Knew
If I could sit across the table from you with a cup of tea, this is what I would say.
Please stop believing that the hardest season of your life is your identity.
It isn't.
It's a chapter.
Not the entire book.
There were years when I thought I would always carry fear.
Always question myself.
Always feel exhausted.
Always wonder when the next crisis would arrive.
But healing has a quiet way of changing your perspective.
One day you wake up and realize you laughed without forcing it.
You slept through the night.
You looked in the mirror without criticizing yourself.
You felt grateful instead of afraid.
The healing wasn't dramatic.
It happened so gradually that you almost missed it.
That is how God often works.
Not always through lightning.
Sometimes through sunrise.
Steady.
Faithful.
Quiet.
Five Practices That Helped Me Rebuild My Self Worth
People often ask me what actually helped me rebuild my confidence after years of trauma.
It wasn't one breakthrough.
It was daily choices.
1. Speak to yourself the way God speaks to you. For years, I repeated words that never belonged to me.
Eventually, I replaced criticism with truth.
Instead of asking, "What's wrong with me?"
I began asking, "What is God growing within me?"
2. Protect your nervous system.
Your nervous system cannot heal if it never experiences safety.
Walk outside.
Pray.
Strength train.
Eat nourishing foods.
Rest without guilt.
Spend time with people who bring peace instead of chaos.
Healing your body supports healing your mind.
3. Stop measuring your worth by other people's opinions.
The people who misunderstood me did not define me.
Neither do the people who misunderstand you.
Your worth was established long before anyone formed an opinion about you.
4. Let pain become your teacher instead of your identity.
Every hardship taught me something I could not have learned any other way.
Compassion.
Discernment.
Boundaries.
Faith.
Resilience.
Those lessons became gifts.
5. Remember that healing is not selfish.
The healthier you become, the healthier everyone around you becomes.
Healing creates ripple effects that extend far beyond your own life.

Why I Created The Sovereign Method
Everything I survived eventually led me to one realization. People don't need someone else to rescue them.
They need someone to help them remember their own power.
For years I watched people give away their peace.
To relationships.
To fear.
To criticism.
To childhood wounds.
To circumstances they couldn't control.
I recognized it because I had done the same thing.
That became the inspiration behind The Sovereign Method.
It is not about becoming someone new.
It is about returning to who God created you to be before fear convinced you otherwise.
It is about releasing old stories that no longer belong to you. Healing emotional wounds.
Strengthening your intuition.
Learning healthy boundaries.
Living from peace instead of survival.
Stepping into your life with quiet confidence instead of constant self doubt.
Sovereignty isn't loud.
It doesn't need to prove anything.
It simply knows who it is.
Why I Offer Intuitive Life Coaching
People often think they come to me for wellness.
Or relationships.
Or business.
Or spiritual guidance.
Those are simply the doorway.
What they're really searching for is themselves.
My Intuitive Life Coaching isn't about giving people answers.
It's about helping them uncover the answers they've buried beneath fear, trauma, and years of conditioning.
Together we explore the patterns keeping them stuck.
We strengthen intuition.
We create practical habits for emotional resilience.
We restore the connection between mind, body, and spirit.
Most importantly, we help them stop living according to someone else's expectations and begin living according to God's calling for their life.
Watching someone remember who they are is one of the greatest privileges of my work.

If You Only Remember One Thing
If all you remember from this story is one sentence, let it be this.
Your greatest wounds do not disqualify you from your greatest purpose.
Sometimes they prepare you for it.
Looking back, I would never choose many of the things I've lived through.
I would never choose losing my father.
I would never choose distorted eating.
I would never choose years of bullying.
I would never choose surgeries, betrayal, financial hardship, or the grief of losing Louis.
But I also know I wouldn't be the woman writing these words without those experiences.
They didn't destroy me.
They refined me.
Today, I don't wake up trying to prove my worth.
I wake up trying to honor the life God has entrusted to me.
The Mercedes I'm preparing to buy isn't a symbol of success.
It's a reminder.
A reminder that perseverance is rewarded.
That healing is possible.
That resilience is built one decision at a time.
That no matter how many times life whispers, "Give up," you always have the power to answer,
"Not today."
So the next time you see someone smiling in a photograph... Remember this.
You don't know what battles they fought before the camera clicked.
You don't know how many tears were cried before that smile became genuine.
You don't know how many prayers were whispered in the dark.
Choose kindness.
Offer grace.
Speak life.
Because every person you meet is carrying a story you cannot see.
And sometimes...
The strongest person in the room is simply the one who decided to keep going.

A Final Letter to You
If no one has told you lately, let me be the one.
I'm proud of you for still being here.
For getting back up.
For continuing to hope.
For believing that your story isn't over.
Maybe today you don't recognize yourself.
Maybe you're exhausted.
Maybe you're carrying grief no one knows about. I've been there.
And I can tell you this with complete certainty.
Healing doesn't happen all at once.
It happens one faithful step at a time.
One prayer.
One nourishing meal.
One boundary.
One act of courage.
One sunrise.
One decision to believe that God still has a purpose for your life.
One day you'll look back at an ordinary photograph and realize it was never about how you looked.
It was about who you became.
And I hope, with all my heart, that when that day comes, you'll smile...
Not because life was easy.
But because you never gave up.
