Honoring the Holidays Solo: Nourishment, Nervous System Care, and the Wisdom of Listening to Your Body

The Sacredness of Solo Holidays

I used to think the Holidays were all about being surrounded by people. Yet after my last relationship ended, everything changed.

I was with someone who absolutely adored Christmas. We’d drive from San Diego to San Francisco, with our three dogs in his Land Rover, and I’d quietly tolerate his sister, who didn’t care much for me 🤦, just because I knew how much the holiday meant to him.

When that relationship ended, I moved to Las Vegas, and for the first time, I spent Christmas and New Year’s Eve on my own.

When Belonging Shifts

One year, I dated an Italian man, and we made Christmas dinner for his mother. For a moment, I was part of something. A part of his family.

Then, once again, I felt the need to stretch my wings and run off into my garden filled with flowers, fruits, and vegetables, solo style.

The following year, it was just me and the furry husbands again. I found peace in waking up alone, sipping my elixir tonic, following it with a cold~pressed juice, and heading to the gym~the only place that always seemed open, even on Christmas Day.

Animals as the Heart of the Holidays

As time passed, my animals became the heart of my Holidays. I fell in love with their Christmas sweaters, the way they danced with excitement, and how they made even an empty home feel full.

Then, when I moved to Arizona, I thought I’d finally get the family Holidays I longed for, but instead, I was met with rejection.

I wasn’t welcome at my sister’s house because I couldn’t bring my dogs, and my elderly dog needed me. It stung more than I expected.

But in that pain, I learned a powerful lesson~my animals, their loyalty, and their unconditional love became my safe space.

Choosing Connection Over Obligation

That year, I volunteered at an elderly shelter on Christmas, spending time with people who had no one.

I didn’t want to be with people who didn’t want me, and I certainly didn’t want to be around people who didn’t welcome Louis, my furry husband companion who has been in my life for more than 20 years.

I wanted to be with others who understood the quiet ache of being forgotten. And in that shared space, I found connection.

Solo Holidays as a Conscious Choice

Now, I’ve learned to love my solo Holidays.

They’re not a consolation prize~they’re a choice.

Tomorrow night, I have the blessing of spending New Year's Eve with my mother! For this, I am eternally grateful.

Over the years, I’ve been invited to friends’ homes, neighbors’ houses, and even distant relatives, but I always choose to stay home with my animals.

They’ve taught me that love doesn’t come with expectations.

Each year, as I watch my dogs in their little sweaters, I realize that this is the love I’ve been waiting for.

It’s simple.
It’s pure.
And it’s enough.

A Message for Anyone Spending the Holidays Alone

So if you’re spending New Year’s Eve alone this year, know that you are not forgotten.

There’s a sacredness in solitude that most people never understand.

If your heart feels heavy, if you feel left out, reach out. I’m here. You’re not alone.

Now That I’ve Got Your Attention

As an intuitive healer and holistic wellness mentor, this is how I eat on every holiday.

I don’t alter my nourishment just because the calendar tells me to.

I honor my body as a sacred vessel.
I honor my energy as currency.
I choose not to lower my vibrational frequency for tradition rooted in disconnection.

✨ My body is sacred space.
✨ My food is prayer.
✨ Every bite is an agreement with my soul.

Holidays aren’t an excuse to abandon our intuition~they’re an invitation to deepen the relationship with it.

How to stay healthy during the holidays

Daily Devotion (Non~Negotiable)

🧃 Cold~pressed juices~I never skip a juice
🌱 Morning clear tonics~herbal, mineral~rich, nervous~system~soothing, spirit~clearing magic

Living Foods for Light and Vitality

🌿 Fresh juices
🍓 Abundant fresh fruit
🥬 Big, dark, leafy, wild~edible salads
🥑 Healthy fats like avocado~nervous system nourishment

Earth~Rooted Nourishment

🍠 Baked sweet potatoes
🎃 Butternut squash
🍝 Spaghetti squash
🫜 Beets~grounding, blood~building, ancestral

Sacred Indulgence~Pleasure Is Spiritual

✨ Dark chocolate
✨ Raw vegan treats made with intention, not guilt

New Year’s Eve as Ritual

When New Year’s Eve arrives, I don’t reach for champagne.

I take a sacred bite of sauerkraut, honoring fermentation, gut wisdom, and the quiet power of living cultures to carry me into the next cycle clear and grounded ✨

This isn’t restriction~it’s remembrance.

It’s cellular memory.
It’s honoring my DNA 🧬 and the wisdom that lived in my ancestors long before me.

When I eat this way, I stay anchored to the Earth, attuned to my intuition, and clear enough to hear higher guidance.

Nature feeds my cells~and my spirit stays quiet enough to listen 🌍✨

I’m feeling deeply grateful and excited because I’m flying to Newport Beach today!

My mom is lovingly caring for my animals 🐾💛

Food is energy.
Family is medicine.
Nature is the teacher.

And every day~holiday or not~is sacred 🌿✨

Your ancestors paved a path for you to honor your bodily vessel.

Eat in a way that remembers who you are.
Follow the pattern written in your DNA 🧬📜
