The truth of the matter is, there is no easy way to detox. Enjoy my story of this three week detox journey I am on in the midst of my already über clean life 🙂
When someone suggested I take a week away I said: "How? With everything I have going on, I can't possibly take time for myself". I thought about it, meditated on it, and finally decided to leave. That one week of detoxing and cleansing my body has turned into two and most likely will turn into three weeks.
When I came to the healing cleansing institution I am at, a little over a week ago, I didn't know what to expect. What I found once I arrived not only amazed me but also brought me to my knees with gratitude. People here come from all over the world for a variety of reasons. Many want to lose weight and several have other "health opportunities" such as cancer, diabetes or high blood pressure.
Here at the facility, a "health opportunity" gives one a chance to be born again so to speak or to adopt a healthy lifestyle that they otherwise would not have. Although I don't have a "health opportunity" I have been blessed with being able to share in the trials and tribulations that many who do have one go through on a daily basis.
The first day I arrived we were given a tour of the property. A beautiful couple in their fifties were walking the tour. The man was very ill, his wife was literally holding him up until the administrator brought a chair out to the garden for him to sit in. We later found out the man has stage 4 pancreatic cancer. Just eight days later, that same man is walking around and literally glowing!
My days here are pretty full. Every morning I wake up at around 5am for an hour of prayer and meditation that we refer to as "Alpha" here. After that I run down and juice about 6 ounces of wheat grass that is grown here in the green house. That wheatgrass is used for an enema that I hold for 20 minutes. After my first "implant" I partake in an hour long lymphatic group exercise class here on the property. It's a very bonding experience and one of my favorite parts of the day. We then all gather around for circle where we pray together and choose a word to abide by for the day. Todays word was "honesty". We follow this by eating breakfast which consists of fruit or a salad with sprouted seed "cheese". At the institute we juice three days per week. This is also my favorite time. It really allows me to let go of routine and other thought patterns that no longer serve me. Our days are packed with classes about sprouting, juicing, raw food prep, food combining and elimination. As much as I thought of myself as "knowing it all" I finally realize that I had SO much more to learn! Not a single class has gone by where I did not have a jaw dropping moment!
I've taken so much away from being in this magical place and my journey has just begun! I still have two more weeks here in order to get my certification to become a missionary! This was not something I had originally planed however as the days went on, I felt pulled to spend more time in this beautiful place! After I complete the three week program I will be taking three months of my time to live on campus as a missionary at one of the locations! One thing I've learned is it's OK to NOT have all of the answers and to be perfectly okay with "just being"!
Cilantro kisses and wheatgrass dreams,
